Just wanted to drop you a line with a huge THANK YOU following my first Ultra experience at yesterday’s Pony Express from Brockenhurst to Moyle Court. I found the whole event a total inspiration - the warmth and help by everyone from the XNRG team through the marshalls and other helpers down to the other competitors themselves who were helpful, knowledgeable and extremely friendly towards a newbie ultra-marathoner. I loved every minute of it (despite the pain!). In particular, the atmosphere was one of a welcoming family of like-minded individuals united by a greater love for their sport rather than who’s got what kit. A truly awesome group of people. My certificate of my first Ultra is proudly on my fridge!
Needless to say, this won’t be my last event with you guys…I’ll be back for more.
Thanks again, and hope today was also a great success.
The seminar was extremely helpful as were the speakers. I had not realised how emotional coming up to the barrier at the finish would be particularly as I was not even sure I would make the start line having put my back out three weeks before. I will happily recommend your seminar if I have any friends who want to take on the challenge.
A 2018 UTMB finisher
May I firstly say what a fantastic weekend my wife Caroline, friend Sarah and I had. We all did far better than any of us thought possible. However due to the great company, organisation and hospitality we came away from the event more than happy, thank you.
I was concerned when I realised I was starting in the elite group as I really felt that there was no way my standard of running would warrant such a starting position, not having done a back to back event before I wondered whether I would actually complete it. However my only failing was probably not to have a bit more faith in my ability, as despite getting lost on day1 I managed to finish the day in 15th place overall. Day2 seemed to be a much better day for me by not getting lost and managing to start a bit steadier and maintain a more even pace.
I thank you for forwarding the results so quickly as I can only imagine how difficult it must be to compile them with it being a 2 day event.
